SERVICE INFORMATION

If you experience a customer concern of a Check Engine light on and find DTC P0457 in memory, check for improper vacuum line connections at the Canister Purge Control (CPC) solenoid. If the lines are inadvertently reversed on the CPC, it may take a month or longer for the DTC to reset as it seems to set only when the fuel level is below 1/4 full. Once the lines are re-installed correctly, the EVAP system should test normally for a small evaporative leak. The photo below shows the CPC and vacuum lines of a 2011 Outback 2.5i model.
