Extension Case Oil Seal: Replacement

  1. Lift up the vehicle.
  2. Clean the transmission exterior.
  3. Remove the ATF drain plug to drain ATF.
    CAUTION: Immediately after the vehicle has been running or after idling for a long time, the ATF will be hot. Be careful not to burn yourself.
  4. Tighten the ATF drain plug.
    NOTE: Use a new gasket.

    Tightening torque: 

    20 N.m (2.0 kgf-m, 14.8 ft-lb)

  5. Remove the rear exhaust pipe and muffler. Ref. to REMOVAL , Rear Exhaust Pipe. Ref. to REMOVAL , Muffler.
  6. Remove the front exhaust pipe. Ref. to REMOVAL , Front Exhaust Pipe.
  7. Remove the heat shield cover.

  8. Remove the propeller shaft. Ref. to REMOVAL , Propeller Shaft.
  9. Using the ST, remove the oil seal.

    ST 398527700 PULLER ASSY

  10. Using the ST, install the oil seal.

    ST 498057300 INSTALLER

  11. Install the propeller shaft. Ref. to INSTALLATION , Propeller Shaft.
  12. Install the heat shield cover.

  13. Install the front exhaust pipe. Ref. to INSTALLATION , Front Exhaust Pipe.
  14. Install the rear exhaust pipe and muffler. Ref. to INSTALLATION , Rear Exhaust Pipe. Ref. to INSTALLATION , Muffler.
  15. Pour ATF from the oil charge pipe. Ref. to REPLACEMENT , Automatic Transmission Fluid.
  16. Check the level and leaks of ATF. Ref. to INSPECTION , Automatic Transmission Fluid.
