To prevent bodily injury from unexpected deployment of airbags and unnecessary maintenance, follow the instructions in this article when performing maintenance on or near the airbag components and the airbag wiring harnesses.

To prevent unexpected deployment, perform the following steps for discharging the battery and then wait for at least 20 seconds before starting work.

• Step 1: Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
• Step 2: Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
