Combination Switch (Wiper): Inspection

COMBINATION SWITCH (WIPER) REFERENCE

  Switch position Terminal No. Standard
FRONT LO 7 and 17 Less than 1 Ω
HI 8 and 17 Less than 1 Ω
Washer ON 2 and 11 Less than 1 Ω

If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

  1. Connect wiper switch terminal 17 to the battery positive terminal, and terminals 2 and 16 to the battery negative terminal.
  2. Turn the wiper switch to INT.
  3. Connect the battery positive terminal to wiper switch terminal 16 for 5 seconds.
  4. Connect the battery negative terminal to wiper switch terminal 16, and measure the voltage between terminals 7 and 2 when the intermittent operation is performed.
  5. Perform the above procedures  1 to  4 when the intermittent control switch is at the MIN and MAX positions.

    Standard for time when the INT is stopped: 

    At MIN: Approximately 2 seconds 

    At MAX: Approximately 17 seconds 

    If operation is not as specified, replace the switch.
