Automatic Transmission Assembly: Removal
- Set the vehicle on a lift.
- Fully open the front hood and support with hood stay.
- Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
- Remove the air intake duct.

- Remove the air intake chamber.

- Remove the air cleaner case stay.
- Disconnect the following connectors.
- Transmission harness connectors
- Transmission ground terminal
- Remove the starter.

- Remove the pitching stopper.
- Separate the torque converter assembly from drive plate.
- Remove the V-belt covers.
- Remove the service hole plug.
- Remove the bolts which hold torque converter assembly to drive plate.
- Insert the wrench to crank pulley bolt, and then remove all the bolts with slightly rotating crank pulley.
CAUTION: Be careful not to drop bolts into converter case. - Install the ST to converter case.
ST 498277200 STOPPER SET
- Remove the ATF level gauge.NOTE: Plug the opening to prevent entry of foreign particles into transmission fluid.
- Remove the throttle body. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Throttle Body. >
- Disconnect the engine harness, and then remove the harness connector from engine harness bracket.
- Remove the engine harness bracket.
- Remove the pitching stopper bracket.
- Set the ST.
ST 41099AC000 ENGINE SUPPORT ASSEMBLY
- Remove the bolts which hold upper side of transmission to engine.
- Lift-up the vehicle.
- Remove the under cover.
- Remove the front, center and rear exhaust pipes and muffler.

- Remove the heat shield cover.
- Remove the ATF drain plug to drain ATF.
- Disconnect the ATF cooler hoses from pipes of transmission side, and remove the oil charge pipe.
- Remove the propeller shaft.

- Remove the shift select cable.

- Remove the brackets (two) which hold front stabilizer.
- Remove the bolt securing ball joint of front arm to housing.
- Pull out the front drive shaft from transmission.
- Using a tire lever or a pinch bar, etc., pull out the front drive shaft until its joint facing to transmission can move smoothly.NOTE: Place cloth between tire lever or pinch bar and transmission in order to avoid damaging the side retainer of transmission.
- Hold the transmission side joint portion of front drive shaft by hand and extract the housing from the transmission by pressing it outside so as not to stretch the boot.
- Using a tire lever or a pinch bar, etc., pull out the front drive shaft until its joint facing to transmission can move smoothly.
- Remove the bolts which hold the clutch housing cover.
- Remove the bolts which hold lower side of transmission to engine.
- Place the transmission jack under transmission.NOTE: Make sure that the support plates of transmission jack don't touch the oil pan.
- Remove the transmission rear crossmember from the vehicle.
- Fully contract the engine support while lowering the transmission jack gradually, and tilt the engine backward.NOTE: Contract the support until the clearance between front crossmember and converter case becomes approx. 10 mm (0.39 in).
- Remove the transmission.CAUTION: Remove the transmission and torque converter as a unit from engine.
- Remove the rear cushion rubber from transmission assembly.
