Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . After repairs are complete, check AIR BAG warning light to verify system is functioning correctly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect connector AB19 from left seat belt pretensioner. See SEAT BELT PRETENSIONERS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. See Figure. Disconnect connector AB9 from left side air bag module, located under seat. Disconnect connector AB7 from air bag control module. See AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect test harness "R" (98299FE030), connector 1R to connector AB7. See Figure. Disconnect connector AB10 from side air bag sensor. See SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect test harness "G" (98299FC020), connector 1G to connector AB10. See Figure. Measure resistance between test harness "R", connector 4R, terminal No. 4 and test harness "G", connector 3G, terminal No. 2. Measure resistance between test harness "R", connector 4R, terminal No. 3 and test harness "G", connector 3G, terminal No. 4. Measure resistance between test harness "R", connector 4R, terminal No. 2 and test harness "G", connector 3G, terminal No. 1. Measure resistance between test harness "R", connector 4R, terminal No. 1 and test harness "G", connector 3G, terminal No. 5. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, Replace side air bag harness and body harness.
- Measure resistance between ground and test harness "R", connector 4R, terminal No. 4. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "R", connector 4R, terminal No. 3. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "R", connector 4R, terminal No. 2. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "R", connector 4R, terminal No. 1. If resistance is more than one megohm, replace side air bag sensor. If problem persists, replace air bag control module. If resistance is less than one megohm, replace side air bag harness and body harness.
