NOTE:
Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . After repairs are complete, check AIR BAG warning light to verify system is functioning correctly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
- Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect connector AB3 from air bag control module. See AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. See Figure. Connect test harness "R" (98299FE030), connector 1R to connector AB3. See Figure. Measure resistance between test harness "R", connector 3R, terminals No. 7 and 9. If resistance is not 750-1000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 750-1000 ohms, replace air bag control module.
- Disconnect connector AB18 from right front subsensor. See FRONT SUBSENSOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect test harness "H" (98299FC030), connector 1H to connector AB18. See Fig 1. Measure resistance between test harness "R", connector 3R, terminal No. 7 and test harness "H", connector 3H, terminal No. 5. Measure resistance between test harness "R", connector 3R, terminal No. 9 and test harness "H", connector 3H, terminal No. 6. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, replace air bag main harness, front subsensor harness and body harness.
- Measure resistance between ground and test harness "R", connector 3R, terminal No. 7. Measure resistance between ground and test harness "R", connector 3R, terminal No. 9. If resistance is more than one megohm, replace front subsensor. If resistance is less than one megohm, replace air bag main harness, front subsensor harness and body harness.
