Outback 3.0L (2002): Assembly
Assemble generator in reverse order of disassembly procedure.
- Before assembling, press the brush down into the brush holder with your finger. Secure in that position by passing a wire (A) that is .08 inches (2 mm) in diameter and 1.6-2.0 inches (4-5 cm) in length through the hole show in Fig 1.CAUTION: Be sure to remove the wire after reassembly.
Grease should not be applied for the rear bearing. Remove oil completely if it is found on the bearing box.
- Heat the bearing box in the rear cover to 122-140°F (50-60°C). Press the rear bearing into the rear cover.
- After reassembly, turn the pulley by hand to check that the rotor turns smoothly.
