Outback 3.0L (2002): Assembly

Assemble generator in reverse order of disassembly procedure.

  1. Before assembling, press the brush down into the brush holder with your finger. Secure in that position by passing a wire (A) that is .08 inches (2 mm) in diameter and 1.6-2.0 inches (4-5 cm) in length through the hole show in Fig 1.
    CAUTION: Be sure to remove the wire after reassembly.

    Grease should not be applied for the rear bearing. Remove oil completely if it is found on the bearing box.

  2. Heat the bearing box in the rear cover to 122-140°F (50-60°C). Press the rear bearing into the rear cover.
  3. After reassembly, turn the pulley by hand to check that the rotor turns smoothly.
