Oil Pump: Removal
- Remove the transmission assembly from the vehicle. Refer to
REMOVAL , Automatic Transmission Assembly.
- Extract the torque converter clutch assembly. Refer to
REMOVAL , Torque Converter Clutch Assembly.
- Remove the input shaft.

- Lift-up lever behind the transmission harness connector and disconnect it from stay.
- Disconnect inhibitor switch connector from stay.
- Disconnect the air breather hose. Refer to
REMOVAL , Air Breather Hose.
- Remove the oil charger pipe. Refer to
REMOVAL , Oil Charger Pipe.
- Remove the oil cooler inlet and outlet pipes. Refer to
REMOVAL , ATF Cooler Pipe and Hose.
- Separation of torque converter clutch case and transmission case sections. Refer to
REMOVAL , Torque Converter Clutch Case.
- Separate transmission case and extension case sections. Refer to
REMOVAL , Extension Case.
- Remove the reduction driven gear. Refer to
REMOVAL , Reduction Driven Gear.
- Loosen the taper roller bearing mounting bolts.

- Place two wooden blocks on the workbench, and stand the transmission case with its rear end facing down.
NOTE:
- Be careful not to scratch the rear mating surface of the transmission case.
- Note that the parking rod and drive pinion protrude from the mating surface.

- Remove the oil pump housing and adjusting thrust washer.

- Remove the oil seal retainer. Also remove the O-ring and oil seal (air breather).

- Remove O-rings from oil pump housing.
- Remove the drive pinion assembly.
