Manual Transmission Assembly: Installation

Install rear cushion rubber to transmission assembly.
1. Tightening torque: 35 N.m (3.6 kgf-m, 26 ft-lb)
Install transmission onto engine.
1. Gradually raise transmission with transmission jack.
2. Engage them at splines.
NOTE: Be careful not to strike main shaft against clutch cover.
Install transmission rear crossmember.
Tightening torque:
1. T1: 75 N.m (7.6 kgf-m, 55 ft-lb)
2. T2: 140 N.m (14.3 kgf-m, 103 ft-lb)

Take off transmission jack.
Tighten nuts which hold lower side of transmission to engine.
1. Tightening torque: 50 N.m (5.1 kgf-m, 37 ft-lb)

Connect engine and transmission.
1. Install starter.
  < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Starters.>
2. Tighten bolt which holds right upper side of transmission to engine.
  1. Tightening torque: 50 N.m (5.1 kgf-m, 37 ft-lb)

Remove ST.

Install pitching stopper.
Tightening torque:
1. T1: 50 N.m (5.1 kgf-m, 37 ft-lb)
2. T2: 58 N.m (5.9 kgf-m, 43 ft-lb)

Lift up the vehicle.
Install front drive shafts into transmission.
New drive spring pin into chamfered hole of drive shaft.

Install ball joints of lower arm into knuckle arm of housing, and tighten installing bolts.
1. Tightening torque: 50 N.m (5.1 kgf-m, 37 ft-lb)

Install stabilizer link from transverse link.
1. Tightening torque: 30 N.m (3.1 kgf-m, 22.1 ft-lb)

Connect rod to the joint.
1. Tightening torque: 18 N.m (1.8 kgf-m, 13.0 ft-lb)

Connect stay to transmission bracket.
1. Tightening torque: 18 N.m (1.8 kgf-m, 13.0 ft-lb)

Install propeller shaft.
Install heat shield cover.

Install hanger bracket on right side of transmission.

Install front, center, rear, exhaust pipe and muffler.
< Ref. to INSTALLATION , Front Exhaust Pipe (H4SO)>, < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Rear Exhaust Pipe (H4SO)> and < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Muffler (H4SO).>
Install under cover.
Install operating cylinder.
1. Tightening torque: 37 N.m (3.8 kgf-m, 27.5 ft-lb)

Connect the following connectors.
1. Transmission ground terminal
  1. Tightening torque: 13 N.m (1.3 kgf-m, 9.4 ft-lb)
2. Vehicle speed sensor connector
3. Neutral position switch connector
4. Back-up light switch connector
Install air cleaner case stay.
1. Tightening torque: 16 N.m (1.6 kgf-m, 11.6 ft-lb)
Install air cleaner case and air intake duct. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Air Cleaner Case (H4SO)> and < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Air Intake Duct (H4SO).>
Connect battery ground cable.
Pour gear oil and check the oil level. < Ref. to TRANSMISSION GEAR OIL .>
Take off vehicle from lift arms.
