Valve Adjustment: 2.0L

  1. Remove appropriate camshaft(s). See appropriate 2.0L 4-CYL DOHC article in ENGINES. Remove appropriate valve lifter. Using a micrometer, measure the thickness of the valve lifter. See Fig 1 .

  2. Using the measured valve clearance and the valve lifter thickness select proper shim thickness. See Fig 2 .

  3. Add proper shim and recheck valve clearance. Ensure all valve clearances are within specifications. If necessary, readjust valve clearance.
