Removal & Installation: CROSSMEMBER: Removal
- Set the vehicle on the lift.
- Disconnect ground cable from battery.
- Lift-up vehicle and remove front tires and wheels.
- Remove both stabilizer and jack-up plate. See Fig 1.
- Disconnect tie-rod end from housing.
- Remove exhaust front pipe.
- Remove front transverse link from front crossmember and body. See TRANSVERSE LINK .
- Remove nuts attaching engine mount cushion rubber to crossmember. See Fig 2.
- Remove steering universal joint. See REMOVAL, Universal Joint .
- Disconnect power steering pipe from steering gear box.
- Lift engine by approximately .39" (10 mm) by using chain block.CAUTION: When removing crossmember downward, be careful that tie-rod end does not interfere with SFJ boot.
- Support crossmember with a jack, remove nuts securing crossmember to body and lower crossmember gradually along with steering gearbox.
