Description & Operation: Notes
Reassemble parts in reverse order of disassembly procedure unless otherwise indicated. Adjust parts to specifications contained in this manual if so designated. Fasten connectors and hoses securely during reassembly. After reassembly ensure functional parts operate smoothly.
The security system can be armed and disarmed with a remote transmitter. It is equipped with an optional Keyless Entry System integrated with the Anti-Theft Alarm System. See POWER DOOR LOCKS & KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM - FORESTER article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
The security system monitors the vehicle through switches on the doors, rear gate, and impact sensor. If a switch is tripped while the security system is in active mode, the system interprets this as an unauthorized attempt to enter the vehicle without a proper key. If unauthorized entry is detected, or the sensor senses an abnormal impact to the vehicle, the starter circuit is disabled to prevent starting the vehicle without the proper key and the security system sounds a horn and flashes the parking lights.
