DTC P1698: Engine Torque Control Cut Signal Circuit Low Input (A/T)
- Perform test procedure. See TESTING PROCEDURE . Start and warm engine. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition on. Using a DVOM, measure voltage by backprobing between 35-pin ECM electrical harness connector B134 terminal No. 31 (Yellow/Red wire on Forester, Impreza and Outback Sport; Yellow wire on Legacy and Outback) and good chassis ground point. See Figure. If voltage is not more than 3 volts, go to next step. If voltage is more than 3 volts, repair poor terminal contact in 35-pin ECM connector B134. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect 35-pin ECM electrical harness connector B134 and 24-pin TCM electrical harness connector B54. Using a DVOM, measure resistance by backprobing between 35-pin ECM electrical harness connector B134 terminal No. 31 (Yellow/Red wire on Forester, Impreza and Outback Sport; Yellow wire on Legacy and Outback) and good chassis ground point. See Figure. If resistance is not less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair short to ground in wiring between ECM and TCM. See ENGINE PERFORMANCE in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
.
- Using a DVOM, measure resistance between 35-pin ECM electrical harness connector B134 terminal No. 31 (Yellow/Red wire on Forester, Impreza and Outback Sport; Yellow wire on Legacy and Outback) and 24-pin TCM electrical harness connector B54 terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Red wire on Forester, Impreza and Outback Sport; Yellow wire on Legacy and Outback). See Figure and Fig 1
. If resistance is less than one ohm, repair poor terminal contact in ECM or TCM connector. If resistance is not less than one ohm, repair open circuit in wiring between ECM and TCM. See ENGINE PERFORMANCE in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE
