DTC P1146: Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Problem (High Input)

  1. Perform test procedure. See TESTING PROCEDURE . If DTC P1146 is only DTC set, go to next step. If any other DTCs exist, diagnose and repair those DTCs. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . It is not necessary to diagnose DTC P1146. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
  2. Check air intake system for loose bolts, holes or disconnected hoses. If air intake system is sound and free of leaks, go to next step. Repair and replace defective components as needed. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
  3. Start engine. Warm engine to above 140°F (60°C). Place transaxle in Neutral or Park. Turn A/C and all accessories off. Using a scan tool, observe intake manifold pressure sensor signal. Intake manifold pressure sensor signal should be 21.65-31.50. in. Hg with ignition on and 5.91-13.78 in. Hg at idle. If pressure is within specification, go to next step. If pressure is not within specification, replace intake air temperature and pressure sensor. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
  4. Using a scan tool, observe throttle position (TP) sensor signal. Throttle position should be equal to or less than 5% when throttle is fully closed. If throttle position is within specification, go to next step. If throttle position is not within specification, adjust or replace TP sensor. See ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
  5. Using a scan tool, observe throttle position (TP) sensor signal. Throttle position should be equal to or more than 85% when throttle is fully open. If throttle position is not within specification, replace (TP) sensor. If throttle position is within specification, replace air temperature and pressure sensor. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
