Keyless Entry System: Notes

The keyless entry system consists of a transmitter, keyless entry control module (with a built-in antenna), door lock actuators, door switches, horn and interior light. The keyless entry system operates on a radio frequency, so its transmitter can be used in almost all directions relative to the vehicle. The keyless entry system locks and unlocks vehicle doors and rear gate, sounds a panic alarm, and arms and disarms the security system (if equipped). The keyless system's operable distance is approximately 30 feet (10 meters). This distance will vary depending upon environmental conditions. Range may be reduced near RF interference sources, such as power plants and radio/television broadcasting towers. The keyless entry system does not operate when the key is inserted in the ignition switch. See Fig 1 .
