System Operation

NOTE:
With the valet mode selected, the security system does not operate and the parking lights do not flash when locking and unlocking with the remote transmitter. The security system indicator light in the combination meter flashes twice per second to show that the valet mode is selected. For more details, see VALET MODE
under DESCRIPTION & OPERATION.
The security system will give the following alarm indications when triggered :
- Parking lights flash, horn sounds intermittently, and starter motor will not operate.
- Alarm automatically resets after 30 seconds; however, the alarm will reactivate if vehicle is tampered with again. The alarm will continue for 6 times if any sensor continues to be activated.
The alarm is triggered by :
- Ignition switch being turned on while in armed state.
- Opening a door, the rear gate, or the trunk lid.
- Physical shock to vehicle (e.g. breaking glass or forced entry).
NOTE:
There are 2 alarm levels for shock:
- Warning mode - Alarm detects lower level vibrations and triggers 2 warning chirps from the horn and 2 flashes on the lights, as a deterrent to would-be vandals.
- Alarm mode - Higher levels of shock are detected and the system will go into full alarm.
