DTC P0341: Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Problem
NOTE:
Wiring between both connectors is shielded. Repair circuit in wiring together with shield.
- Perform basic diagnostic procedure. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If DTC P0340 exists, diagnose and repair that DTC first. If DTC P0341 is only DTC set, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CMP sensor connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between CMP sensor connector terminal No. 1 and ground. See Figure. If resistance is not more than 100 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 100 k/ohms, locate and repair open circuit in wiring and check for poor terminal contact in connectors between ECM and CMP sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
- Measure resistance between CMP sensor connector terminal No. 1 and ground. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, locate and repair short to ground in wiring between ECM and CMP sensor. If resistance is not less than 10 ohms, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between CMP sensor connector terminal No. 2 and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, locate and repair open circuit in wiring and check for poor terminal contact in connectors between ECM and CMP sensor.
- Ensure CMP sensor bolt is tightened securely. Tighten bolt as required. If CMP sensor is securely installed, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off and remove CMP sensor. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between CMP sensor connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. If resistance is between 1000-4000 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not between 1000-4000 ohms, replace CMP sensor.
- Turn ignition off. Ensure CMP sensor bolt is tightened securely. Tighten bolt as required. If CMP sensor is securely installed, go to next step.
- Remove front timing belt cover and inspect camshaft sprocket for damage. Replace camshaft sprocket, if necessary. If camshaft sprocket is okay, go to next step.
- Check installation of timing belt. See Figure. Repair/replace timing belt and adjust as necessary. If timing belt is properly installed, replace CMP sensor. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE .
