NOTE: Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . After repairs are complete, check AIR BAG warning light to verify system is functioning correctly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
  1. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Disconnect connector AB26 from right side pretensioner. See Figure . Disconnect connectors AB24 and AB25. Connect connector AB24 to test harness "F" (98299FC010), connector 1F. See Figure . Connect air bag resistor (98299PA040) to test harness "F", connector 3F. Connect negative battery terminal and turn ignition on (with engine off). If AIR BAG warning light goes off after about 7 seconds and remains off for more than 30 seconds, go to next step. If AIR BAG warning light does not turn off after about 7 seconds or turns back on within 30 seconds, replace right front seat back assembly with side impact air bag module and go to step  4 . See SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Turn ignition off and disconnect negative battery terminal. Wait at least 20 seconds. Disconnect test harness "F" connector 3F and air bag resistor. Disconnect air bag control module connector AB18. See Figure . Connect connector AB18 to test harness I2 (98299FC041), connector 1I. See Figure . Connect negative battery cable and turn ignition on (with engine off). Measure voltage between ground and test harness I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 7. If voltage is more than one volt, go to next step. If voltage in less than one volt, replace air bag control module and go to step  4 . See AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Measure voltage between ground and test harness I2, connector 3I, terminal No. 9. If voltage is more than one volt, replace right side impact air bag harness and go to next step. If voltage in less than one volt, replace air bag control module and go to next step. See AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Turn ignition off and disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least 20 seconds. Reconnect system components and activate air bag system. Clear diagnostic codes. See CLEARING CODES  under DIAGNOSTICS. Check for normal air bag system operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
