Extension Case Oil Seal: Replacement

  1. Clean the transmission exterior.
  2. Drain the ATF completely.
  3. Replace the gasket with a new one, and then tighten the ATF drain plug.
    1. Tightening torque:  25 N.m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.1 ft-lb)

  4. Remove the rear exhaust pipe and muffler.

    2.5 L model 

    1. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Rear Exhaust Pipe> and < Ref. to REMOVAL , Muffler.>

    3.0 L model 

    1. < Ref. to REMOVAL , Rear Exhaust Pipe> and <Ref. to REMOVAL , Muffler.>
  5. Remove the heat shield cover.
  6. Remove the propeller shaft.
  7. Using the ST, remove the oil seal.
    1. ST 398527700 PULLER ASSY
  8. Using the ST, install the oil seal.
    1. ST 498057300 INSTALLER
  9. Install the propeller shaft.
  10. Install the heat shield cover.
  11. Install the rear exhaust pipe and muffler.

    2.5 L model 

    1. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Rear Exhaust Pipe> and < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Muffler.>

    3.0 L model 

    1. < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Rear Exhaust Pipe> and < Ref. to INSTALLATION , Muffler.>
  12. Pour ATF and check the ATF level. < Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID .>
