DTC P1137: Front Ho2S Circuit Range/Performance Problem - Legacy & Outback 2.5L A/T

  1. Perform basic diagnostic procedure. See BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If DTCs P0131, P0132, P1132 and P1133 exist, repair those DTCs first. If only DTC P1137 exists, go to next step.
  2. Start and ensure engine operating temperature is more than 160°F (70°C). If engine is already warmed up, operate engine at idle for one minute. Using scan tool, observe front HO2S output signal. If voltage is .85-1.15 volt during idle, go to next step. If voltage is not .85-1.15 volt, go to step  4.
  3. Slowly accelerate engine (five seconds) from idle to 5,000 RPM a total of 5 times while using scan tool to monitor front HO2S output signal. If voltage is more than 1.1 volts for a moment, go to step  6. If voltage is not more than 1.1 volts for a moment, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECM connector B136 (30-pin connector) and front HO2S connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between specified ECM terminals and front HO2S harness terminals. See Figure and Figure . See ECM-TO-FRONT HO2S CONNECTOR TEST TERMINALS - FORESTER, IMPREZA 2.5L & LEGACY & OUTBACK 2.5L A/T  table. If resistance is less than 5 ohms at all points, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms at all points, locate and repair open circuit in wiring and check for poor terminal contact in connectors between ECM and front HO2S. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  5. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between ECM connector B136 (30-pin connector) terminals No. 6, 7, 19 and 20 and chassis ground. See Figure. If resistance is more than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is not more than one megohm, locate and repair short to ground in wiring between ECM and front HO2S. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  6. Check exhaust system for damage or loose components, poor HO2S installation, exhaust system leaks ahead of HO2S or loose HO2S. Repair or replace exhaust system components as necessary. If exhaust system is okay, replace front HO2S. Clear memory and perform verification procedure. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  and VERIFICATION PROCEDURE  .
