Main Switch Test
- Turn ignition on. Check voltage between fuse No. 18 and ground. Voltage should be 10-13 volts.
- Remove main switch and disconnect harness connector. Turn ignition on. Check voltage between ground and main switch harness connector terminal No. 3 (Blue wire). See Fig 1
. Voltage should be 10 volts or greater. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, repair wiring and/or connectors as necessary.
- Turn cruise control main switch to ON position. Using DVOM, check resistance between main switch harness connector terminals No. 3 and 5. See Fig 2
. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, replace cruise control main switch.
- Turn cruise control main switch to OFF position. Using DVOM, check resistance between main switch harness connector terminals No. 3 and 5. If resistance is less than one megohm, go to next step. If resistance is one megohm or greater, replace cruise control main switch.
- Reconnect cruise control main switch harness connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and cruise control main switch harness connector terminal No. 3. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair or replace wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
.
- Measure voltage between ground and cruise control main switch harness connector terminal No. 5. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair or replace wiring harness.
- Measure voltage between ground and cruise control module harness connector terminal No. 4. See Figure
. If voltage is 10 volts or more, replace cruise control module. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair or replace wiring harness.
