Description & Operation

WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.

Throttle plate position is controlled by vacuum operated actuator in engine compartment. Vacuum supply to actuator is controlled by a valve and pump assembly that contains a vacuum pump motor, vent valve and safety valve. Valve and pump assembly receives commands from cruise control module. Cruise control module receives inputs from the following components:

The system is equipped with on-board diagnostics. Cruise cancel conditions and real-time diagnosis can be performed using Subaru Select Monitor (24082AA130). A Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is set when a cruise control related problem arises. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM  .
