Ball Joint Checking

Remove ball joint from lower control arm. See LOWER CONTROL ARM & BALL JOINT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Apply 154 lbs. (69 kg) of downward pressure to ball joint stud. Measure compressed length of ball joint. Apply 154 lbs. (69 kg) of pulling force to ball joint stud. Measure extended length of ball joint. Axial play should not exceed .012" (.30 mm). Replace ball joint if play is excessive.
