Steering Pump Pressure

CAUTION: DO NOT leave valve closed or steering wheel at full lock longer than 5 seconds; otherwise, pump damage could occur.
  1. Attach Pressure Gauge (925711000) and Adapters Hose "A" and "B". For Legacy use Adapters Hose (926210000 and 926220000). For Impreza and Forester use Adapters Hose (34099AC010 and 34099AC020) between pump and high pressure line. See Fig 1 . Ensure gauge is on pump side of valve.
  2. With engine idling and valve open. Normal pressure should be as specified. See STEERING PUMP PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS  table. If pressure is not to specification, check for flattened, leaking or blocked lines.
  3. With engine idling and valve closed. Relief pressure should be as specified. See STEERING PUMP PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS  table. If pressure is not as specified, check for faulty relief valve, fluid leak inside pump and excessive wear of pump vanes.
  4. With engine idling and valve open, measure working pressure of control valve by turn wheel from lock to lock. Working pressure should be as specified. See STEERING PUMP PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS  table. If pressure is not as specified, replace control valve as assembly.
