Front Differential Assembly: Removal

  1. Remove the manual transmission assembly from vehicle. See MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY  .
  2. Remove back-up light switch and neutral position switch.
  3. Remove transfer case and extension case assembly. See TRANSFER CASE AND EXTENSION CASE ASSEMBLY  .
  4. Remove transmission case. See TRANSMISSION CASE  .
  5. Removes drive pinion shaft assembly. See DRIVE PINION SHAFT ASSEMBLY  .
  6. Remove main shaft assembly. See MAIN SHAFT ASSEMBLY  .
  7. Remove differential assembly. See FRONT DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY  .
    CAUTION:
    • Be careful not to confuse right and left roller bearing outer races.
    • Be careful not to damage retainer oil seal.

  8. Remove differential side retainers using ST.

    ST 499787000 WRENCH ASSY
