DTC P1132: Front Oxygen Sensor (O2S) Heater Circuit Low Input - Except 2.2L & Legacy 2.5L M/T
- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition on and read DTCs. If DTC P0141 and P1132 exist at the same time, go to next step. If only DTC P1132 exists, go to step 5.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect electrical connector from front O2S. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter connected to ground, check voltage at terminal No. 2 of front O2S connector. See Figure. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open circuit in harness between front O2S and main relay. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS
article. Also check connectors between main relay and front O2S.
- Using an ohmmeter, backprobe between ECM connector B134 (35-pin connector) terminal No. 35 and ground. See Figure. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open circuit in harness between ECM and ground. Also check ECM and coupling connectors for poor contact.
- Using an ohmmeter, backprobe between ECM connector B134 (35-pin connector) terminal No. 34 and ground. If resistance less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open circuit in harness between ECM and ground. Also check ECM and coupling connectors for poor contact.
- Turn ignition off. Install scan tool. Start engine and let idle. Observe front O2S heater current value. If value is more than 0.2 amp, check for poor contact at ECM and O2S connectors. If value is 0.2 amp or less, go to next step.
- With engine idling, measure voltage between ground and ECM connector B134 (35-pin connector) terminal No. 22. If voltage is less than one volt, go to next step. If voltage is one volt or more, measure voltage between ground and ECM connector B134 (35-pin connector) terminal No. 22 while wiggling harness and ECM connector. If voltage change is less than one volt while wiggling harness and connector, check for poor contact at ECM connector. If voltage change is not less than one volt, go to next step.
- Measure voltage between ground and ECM connector B134 (35-pin connector) terminal No. 23. If voltage is less than one volt, go to next step. If voltage is one volt or more, measure voltage between ground and ECM connector B134 (35-pin connector) terminal No. 23 while wiggling harness and ECM connector. If voltage change is less than one volt when wiggling harness and connector, check for poor contact at ECM connector. If voltage change is not less than one volt, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Check resistance between front O2S terminals No. 2 and 5. See Fig 1. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair open or short in harness between ECM, front O2S and coupling connectors. If resistance is 10 ohms or more, replace front O2S.
