Dear Subaru Owner:

October 11,1999

Subaru of America, Inc. has determined that 1999 model year Legacy Brighton vehicles equipped with cruise control may require replacement of the cruise control unit.

THE REASON FOR THIS NOTICE

1999 Legacy Brighton vehicles equipped with cruise control may experience wear of the power steering hose due to interference with the cruise control assembly over an extended period of time. Not all vehicles will experience wear to the power steering hose, depending on engine vibration, which varies by vehicle use.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

You should contact your Subaru dealer and schedule a service appointment to repair your vehicle.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

The actual time to perform this repair is approximately 1.0 hour, however it may be necessary for you to leave your vehicle for the full day of your scheduled appointment to allow the dealer some flexibility in scheduling other customers.
