Power Circuits (Cranking)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Subaru Outback, 2001 Subaru Legacy, 2001 Subaru Impreza, and 2001 Subaru Forester. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Using voltmeter, backprobe ECM connector crank signal terminal. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Hold ignition switch in START position. Battery voltage should exist between ECM terminal and ground only when ignition switch is in START position.
  2. If battery voltage does not exist, check fusible link. Fusible links are in engine compartment. If fusible link is okay, check for open wire between fusible link and ECM terminal or for defective ignition switch.
