DTC P1443: EVAP System Vent Control Function Problem

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool. Retrieve DTCs. If any DTCs other than P1443 exist, repair those DTCs first. If DTC P1443 is only DTC set, check the following:
    • Blockage Of Air Filter
    • Blockage Of Junction Pipe
    • Blockage Of Vent Hose Between Air Filter And Junction Pipe
    • Blockage Of Vent Hose Between Drain Valve And Air Filter
    • Blockage Of Vent Hoses Between Canister And Drain Valve

See Fig 1. Repair as necessary. If no problem was found, go to next step.

  2. Turn ignition off. Connect test mode connector. See Figure. Turn ignition on. Listen for clicking sound from drain valve. If clicking sound was heard, system has returned to normal at this time. Check for intermittent connections. If no clicking was heard, replace drain valve.
