DTC P1400 (PCVSOL_Lo): Fuel Tank Pressure Control Solenoid Valve Circuit Low Input
- Turn ignition on. Using voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe PCM connector terminal No. 10 (Light Green/Black wire). If voltage reading is more than 10 volts, check PCM connector contact. If voltage reading is 10 volts or less, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect connectors from fuel tank pressure control solenoid and PCM. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance of harness between fuel tank pressure control solenoid connector terminal No. 2 (Light Green/Black wire) and ground. If resistance is 10 ohms or less, repair short to ground in harness. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, go to next step.
- Check resistance of harness between fuel tank pressure control solenoid connector terminal No. 2 and PCM connector terminal No. 10 (Light Green/Black wire). If resistance is more than one ohm, repair open in harness. If resistance is one ohm or less, go to next step.
- Check resistance of fuel tank pressure control solenoid between terminals No. 1 and 2. If resistance is not 10-100 ohms, replace solenoid. If resistance is 10-100 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Check voltage between ground and fuel tank pressure control solenoid terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Green wire on Forester and Impreza, or Yellow/Blue wire on Legacy). If voltage reading is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage reading is 10 volts or less, check for an open in wiring between main relay and fuel tank pressure control solenoid connector. Also, check for poor terminal contact in main relay connector and coupling.
- Check for poor terminal contact in fuel tank pressure control solenoid connector and main relay connector and repair as necessary.
