DTC P0462 (FLVL_Low) : Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Low Input

  1. Check speedometer and tachometer operation. If speedometer and tachometer operate normally, go to next step. If speedometer and tachometer do not operate normally, turn ignition off. Remove gauge cluster. Check resistance between combination meter connector terminal No. 15 and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair or replace gauge cluster. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair connector or wiring.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using DVOM connected to chassis ground, backprobe ECM connector terminal No. 27. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If voltage reading is .12 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage reading is more than .12 volts, wiggle ECM connector. If voltage reading changes to less than .12 volts, repair wiring or poor terminal contact to ECM. If voltage reading does not change, replace ECM.
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove fuel pump access cover, located in right rear of trunk floor (Sedan), or luggage compartment (Wagon). Disconnect fuel pump connector. Check resistance between chassis ground and fuel pump connector terminal No. 4. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair short in wiring.
  4. Reconnect fuel pump. Remove gauge cluster. Check resistance between combination meter connector terminal No. 14 and ground. If resistance is less than 200 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 200 ohms, repair connector or wiring.
  5. Check fuel gauge screw and printed circuit. Repair or replace any loose or damaged parts. If no problems are found, replace fuel gauge.
