Test 2: Hydraulic Unit Solenoid Valve Circuit Problem
- Locate check connector (Black) under instrument panel. Check connector is a 20-pin connector, near left kick panel. Turn ignition on. Ground appropriate check connector terminal using a jumper wire to check solenoid valve operation. See Fig 1
.
- To activate solenoid, ground check connector terminal No. 2 for DTC 1, terminal No. 11 for DTC 2, terminal No. 12 for DTC 3 or terminal No. 3 for DTC 4.
- Solenoid valve should be heard activating when terminal is grounded. Each time solenoid activates, system circuit is interrupted. To test additional circuit(s), ignition must be turned off and back on. If any solenoid valve(s) does not activate, replace hydraulic unit.
- If all solenoid valves are okay, turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control unit harness connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and ABS harness connector terminal No. 2 for DTC 1, terminal No. 35 for DTC 2, terminal No. 19 for DTC 3 or terminal No. 18 for DTC 4. See Figure
. Voltage should be zero volts as solenoid activates. If solenoid valve(s) do not activate, inspect and repair circuit(s) between control unit and hydraulic unit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
. If solenoid valve(s) activates, replace ABS control unit.
