ABS Warning Light Stays On
- Ensure ABS control unit connector is fully seated and locked in place. Repair as needed. Go to next step.
- Start engine. With engine idling, check voltage at generator "B" terminal. If voltage is 10-15 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 10-15 volts, repair generator and retest.
- Ensure battery terminal connections are clean and tight. Repair as needed. Go to next step.
- Disconnect ABS control unit connector. Start engine and idle. Check voltage at connector terminal No. 28. If voltage is 10-15 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 10-15 volts, repair wiring and retest.
- Turn ignition off. Check resistance between ground and ABS control unit connector terminals No. 1 and No. 55. If resistance is less than .5 ohm, go to next step. If resistance is .5 ohm or more, repair wiring and retest.
- Disconnect relay box connector. Turn ignition on. If ABS warning light does not illuminate, go to next step. If ABS warning light illuminates, repair wiring and retest.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect relay box connector. Remove valve relay from relay box. Disconnect hydraulic control unit connector. Turn ignition on. If ABS warning light does not illuminate, go to next step. If ABS warning light illuminates, repair relay box and check fuse No. 15.
- Check valve relay. Check resistance between valve relay terminal No. 30 and No. 87. Resistance should be more than 1 megohm. Check resistance between valve relay terminal No. 30 and No. 87a. Resistance should be less than .5 ohm. If resistance is not as specified, replace relay. Connect battery positive to relay terminal No. 85 and battery negative to relay terminal No. 86. Check resistance between valve relay terminal No. 30 and No. 87. Resistance should be less than .5 ohm. Check resistance between valve relay terminal No. 30 and No. 87a. Resistance should be more than 1 megohm. If resistance is not as specified, replace relay. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect hydraulic unit connector. Turn ignition on. If ABS warning light does not illuminate, go to next step. If ABS warning light illuminates, replace hydraulic unit and check fuse No. 19.
- Check resistance between diagnostic terminals "A" and "B" under instrument panel and ground. If resistance is less than one ohm, go to next step. If resistance is one ohm or more, repair wiring.
- Connect diagnostic terminals to ABS diagnostic connector terminal No. 2. Disconnect ABS control unit connector. Check resistance between ABS control unit connector terminal No. 13 and ground. If resistance is less than one ohm, go to next step. If resistance is one ohm or more, repair wiring.
- Check contact at ABS control unit connector. If connector contacts are poor, repair connector. If contacts are okay, replace ABS control unit.
