Pinion Gear Return Test

Connect jumper wire from negative terminal of 12-volt battery to starter solenoid case. Connect another jumper wire from negative terminal of 12-volt battery to terminal No. 50. See Fig 1 . Momentarily touch positive jumper wire to terminal "C". Pinion gear should return immediately. If pinion gear does not return immediately, replace starter.
