Steering Pump Pressure

  1. Attach Pressure Gauge (925711000 ) and Adapters "A" and "B" (926210000 and 926220000 ) between pump and high pressure line. See Fig 1 . Ensure gauge is on pump side of valve.
  2. With engine idling and valve open, pressure should be as specified. See STEERING PUMP PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS  TABLE. If pressure is not within specification, check for flattened, leaking or blocked lines.
  3. With engine idling and valve closed, pressure should be as specified. See STEERING PUMP PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS  TABLE. See Fig 2 . If pressure is not as specified, check for faulty relief valve, fluid leak inside pump and excessive wear of vane mechanism in pump.
CAUTION: DO NOT leave valve closed or steering wheel at full lock longer than 5 seconds; otherwise, pump damage could occur.
