Transaxle Control Cable: Adjustment

  1. Ensure shift control lever on transmission side turns fully when throttle valve is fully open. Ensure throttle valve fully opens or closes. With throttle valve fully open, lightly pull transaxle control cable to ensure free play is .020-.059" (0.50-1.50 mm).
  2. If free play is less than specified, loosen outer lock nut. One rotation of lock nut changes free play .04" (1.0 mm). While preventing outer lock nut from turning, tighten inner lock nut.
  3. If free play is greater than specified, loosen inner lock nut. One rotation of lock nut changes free play .04" (1.0 mm). While preventing inner lock nut from turning, tighten outer lock nut. Set throttle cable to fully open and check control cable free play.
