Selective 4WD Models

  1. Loosen differential lock lever cable adjustment lock nuts. Remove clevis pin from differential lock lever. Move differential lock lever to the center differential LOCK position. See Fig 1 .

  2. Disconnect outer vacuum hose from vacuum actuator and connect vacuum pump to actuator. Apply 7.8-9.8 in. Hg to actuator to pull cable forward. Vacuum must keep actuator in applied position when adjusting cable. See Fig 2 .

  3. Align differential lock lever bore with hole at end of cable using turnbuckle. Install clevis pin and snap ring. Back off turnbuckle 180 degrees and tighten lock nuts to 43 INCH lbs. (5 N.m). See Fig 3 .

  4. Check operation of transfer shifter rod when 7.8-9.8 in. Hg is applied to both sides of vacuum actuator. Shifter rod should move smoothly from the differential LOCK position to the differential UNLOCK position and vice versa.
