Airflow Meter (SPFI)

All SPFI vehicles use a hot wire type airflow meter. This airflow meter uses a cold and a hot wire to sense incoming airflow. The airflow meter operates by using the cold wire to detect the temperature of incoming air. Current flows through the hot wire to maintain a preset temperature difference between the cold wire and hot wire. By keeping the temperature difference between the 2 wires constant, the ECU will calculate the amount of air entering the engine.
