SERVICE INFORMATION
The revolution sensor on 1986 4WD Station Wagon and Sedan non-ECC vehicles is mounted on a bracket located above the hood release cable inside the vehicle. This is the same location used to mount the electronic module (manufactured by Specific Cruise Control) when installing optional SOA Cruise Control. (See Fig 1 ).
When installing a Cruise Control unit into one of these vehicles, the revolution sensor must be relocated as follows:
- Loosen the two (2) Phillips head screws that retain the hood release and revolution sensor brackets.
- Remove the revolution sensor and bracket assembly.
- Remove the Phillips head screw retaining the revolution sensor to the bracket and discard bracket and screw.
- Relocate the revolution sensor to the left stud under the steering column using the 8mm nut supplied with applicable Specific Cruise Control kits. (These are the studs that normally mount the ECC module).
NOTE:
The stud on the left, closest to the steering wheel, should be used to allow for the greatest clearance.
