Tilt Mechanism: Removal
- Disconnect tension cords. Move wheel to full upright position. Remove cords and balance springs. Remove universal joint clamp bolt. Loosen lower bearing screws and remove universal joint shaft and bearing downward as a unit.
- Remove snap ring, washer, "O" ring, bearing and housing from universal joint shaft. Remove ignition switch bolts. Detach switch and universal joint shaft from tilt bracket.
- Remove inner stop ring from ignition switch using a sharp screwdriver. Remove inner needle bearing and race. Remove inner spring washer. Remove outer stop ring, washer, needle bearing and race. Remove outer spring washer.
- Remove tilt lever spring and plate. Remove lock gear and lever as an assembly. Remove lever snap ring, washer and shaft. Remove tilt bracket pivot bolt and bushing. Remove tilt bracket. Remove lock gear shaft and lever shaft.
