Solenoid Valve I
- Inspect the vacuum passage for proper opening and closing when applying electrical current on both + and - terminals. If passage opens and closes, component is normal. If not, replace solenoid valve I.
- Check the resistance between + or - terminal and body of solenoid valve I. Standard resistance is 1 megaohm or more (infinity). If valve is not within limits, replace component.
- Check the resistance between the + and - terminals. Standard resistance is 32.7-39.9 ohms. If valve is not within limits, replace component.
NOTE:
With current off, solenoid valve plunger is forced upward by spring pressure, closing off passage between "A" and "B" and opening passage between "B" and "C". With current on, plunger is attracted downward, opening passage between "A" and "B" and closing passage between "B" and "C". See Fig 1
