  1. Disconnect vacuum hose at EGR valve. Connect a hand-held vacuum pump to EGR valve. Start and warm engine to normal operating temperature. Apply vacuum. Engine should stall.
  2. Connect a vacuum gauge to EGR hose. Pinch vacuum hose No. 8 (between clean air intake and EGR control solenoid). Start engine. EGR vacuum hose should have vacuum with engine running. Release vacuum hose No. 8. Vacuum should not be present at EGR vacuum hose.
