Location
The drive program recognition sensor is located on the shaft of the parking lock mechanism on the left of the transmission in the direction of travel.
Task
The drive program recognition sensor monitors the mechanical park pawl "P", which is engaged or released via a the cable. Redundantly with the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5), it also monitors the drive programs "D" and "R" engaged via the selector lever, as well as the neutral position "N". The status of the drive program recognition sensor is read in by the electric drive control unit (N127) over direct lines.
