Operating Central Locking With Transmitter Key, Function - GF80.20-P-2002KJ

MODEL 453.0/3/4

Functions

The following functions can be performed via the transmitter key (A8/1):

The transmitter key locks and unlocks centrally:

Function sequence for control with transmitter key

Unlocking: Actuate transmit button "Unlock", turn signal flashes once.

IMPORTANT If the vehicle is not opened within 2 minutes after unlocking, it relocked automatically.

Locking: Actuate "Lock" transmit button, turn signal flash twice.

IMPORTANT Detailed descriptions for optical feedback when locking or unlocking are given in the separate function description "Central locking (CL), function" in the chapter "Function sequence for feedback of locking or unlocking procedures via turn signals".

Globally unlocking via transmitter key

When the unlock button the transmitter key is pressed, all vehicle doors are unlocked. Opening the trunk lid and the tank cap is permitted. For this purpose the center SAM control unit (N10/10) receives the radio signal with the access authorization code from the transmitter key. If the access authorization code is valid, the center SAM control unit actuates the following components via direct lines in the individual actuators of the central locking:

If, on vehicles with code 885 (Increased theft protection) (Great Britain), the additional door lock is activated, the following actuators are actuates in addition by the center SAM control unit while unlocking:

The liftgate is enabled electronically and can be opened via trunk lid/liftgate lock switch (S15/1) or via the driver trunk lid/liftgate control button (S15/3) (Model 453.3 with code 494 USA version).

On model 453.091/391/491 the status of the CL is transmitted via the interior CAN (CAN B) to the electric drive control unit (N127), which transmits it via the electric drive CAN (CAN EL) to the charging process monitoring control unit (N83/2) (except code 908 (on-board charger 22kW)) or charger control unit for high-voltage battery (22 KW charger) (N83/10) (with code 908 (on-board charger 22kW)). The charging process monitoring control unit or charger control unit for high-voltage battery (22 KW charger) then unlocks the charging socket lock (M14/4) for 60 s. If the electrical coupling of the charging cable is not pulled out of the charger feed socket (X58/23) within this period of time, it is locked automatically in the charger feed socket.

When the opening button the transmitter key is actuated a second time, the vehicle is then unlocked globally. The status of the individual door locks is detected by the center SAM control unit via the microswitches in the individual actuators:

The status of a closed or opened liftgate is recognized via the following microswitches:

Unlocking selectively via transmitter key (only driver side) (only vehicle with code 494 USA version)

Additional function requirements

IMPORTANT Selective unlocking can be adjusted via XENTRY diagnostics or on vehicles with code 535 (smart Media system) in Smart Radio Multimedia Navigator (A40/3) via menu "Vehicle" in submenu "Settings" on "Disable only driver door".

If selective unlocking is adjusted, only the driver door and the tank cap are unlocked over the open button during the first unlocking procedure. Thereby the following actuators are actuated by the center SAM control unit to unlock:

The liftgate is enabled electronically and can be opened via the trunk lid/liftgate lock switch or driver trunk lid/liftgate control button (model 453.3 with code 494 (USA version)). If, on vehicles with code 885 (Increased theft protection) (Great Britain), the additional door lock is activated, the driver door additional door lock actuator is actuated in addition by the center SAM control unit while unlocking.

On model 453.091/391/491 the status of the CL is transmitted via the interior CAN to the electric drive control unit, which transmits it via the electric drive CAN to the charging process monitoring control unit (except code 908 (on-board charger 22kW)) or charger control unit for high-voltage battery (22 KW charger) (with code 908 (on-board charger 22kW)). The charging process monitoring control unit or charger control unit for high-voltage battery (22 KW charger) then unlocks the charging socket lock for 60 s. If the electrical coupling of the charging cable is not pulled out of the charger feed socket within this period of time, it is locked automatically in the charger feed socket.

When the opening button the transmitter key is actuated a second time, the vehicle is then unlocked globally.

Unlock liftgate via transmitter key (only model 453.0/3)

By actuating the "Liftgate" button the transmitter key for at least 2 s the liftgate is unlocked and jumps open so that it can be opened completely by hand. For this purpose the center SAM control unit actuates the following components via direct lines:

The center SAM control unit detects the status of the opened liftgate via the liftgate central locking microswitch (M14/7s1).

Globally unlocking via transmitter key

By actuating the lock button the transmitter key, the is locked globally. For this purpose the center SAM control unit actuates the following components via direct lines:

The center SAM control unit recognized via the central locking microswitches, when the vehicle is locked successfully. When the vehicle is locked, the liftgate is enabled electronically and therefore can no longer be opened via the trunk lid/liftgate lock switch or driver trunk lid/liftgate control button (model 453.3 with code 494 (USA version)). The turn signals flash twice after successful locking.

IMPORTANT If a driver door or the liftgate is not correctly closed, this is recognized by the corresponding central locking microswitch. Immediately after a locking attempt the vehicle is unlocked automatically and a visual feedback is not output via the turn signals.

Activating additional door lock ("Superlock") via transmitter key (vehicles with code 885 (Increased theft protection) Great Britain)

By actuating the lock button o the transmitter key twice within 2 s, the vehicle is locked additionally. For this purpose the center SAM control unit actuates the following components via direct lines:

When the additional door lock is activated successfully, the turn signal lights flash longer 3 times and 2 times quickly for acknowledgement.

IMPORTANT A vehicle secured by the additional door lock, can no longer be opened from inside without transmitter key.
