Display operating conditions, general
The operating conditions display provides the driver with permanent information about the current operating conditions of the vehicle.
The "display operating conditions" function comprises the following subfunctions:
- Display of speed function sequence
- Function sequence for power display
- Display of travel distance function sequence
- Function sequence for charge level display
- Function sequence of transmission mode display
- Function sequence for range display
Display of speed function sequence
The vehicle speed is calculated on the basis of the wheel speeds. The Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) sends information on the wheel speeds via the interior CAN (CAN B) to the instrument cluster (A1).
The instrument cluster (A1) calculates the current vehicle speed, compares this with the internally stored speedometer characteristic and actuates the speedometer (A1p8) accordingly via a stepper motor.
In addition, the speed is also displayed on the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1).
Function sequence for power display
The currently required power is displayed via the high-voltage battery power display (A15p6).
The electric drive control unit (N127) receives information on the position of the accelerator pedal from the accelerator pedal sensor (B37) and uses this information to calculate the currently required power. The information is forwarded via the interior CAN (CAN B) to the high-voltage battery power display (A15p6) and displayed there in percent.
Display of travel distance function sequence
The instrument cluster (A1) calculates the traveled distance from the wheel speeds, taking the tire circumference into consideration.
The Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4) sends information on the wheel speeds via the interior CAN to the instrument cluster (A1).
The total distance is shown on the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1) as a 6-digit number in kilometers or miles (depending on the country setting) as soon as the instrument cluster (A1) is activated. The display range for the total distance is from 0 to 999, 999 kilometers or miles.
The trip distance is shown on the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1). The maximum displayed counter reading of the trip distance is 9999, 9. If this value is reached, an overflow back to 0 takes place.
Function sequence for charge level display
The charge level is shown on the high-voltage battery charge level indicator (A15p7).
The information on the charge level of the high-voltage battery (G5) is supplied by the battery management system control unit (N82/2) on the electric drive CAN (CAN EL). The electric drive control unit (N127) forwards this information via the interior CAN (CAN B) to the high-voltage battery charge level indicator (A15p7).
Function sequence of transmission mode display
The transmission mode display is shown on the multifunction display (A1p13) in the instrument cluster (A1).
The information for the transmission mode display is supplied by the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) on the electric drive CAN (CAN EL). The electric drive control unit (N127) forwards this information via the interior CAN (CAN B) to the instrument cluster (A1). Irrespective of the information supplied for the transmission mode display by the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) on the electric drive CAN (CAN EL), the electric drive control unit (N127) also receives a signal regarding the engaged transmission mode from the transmission mode recognition sensor (B56/1). This is to ensure that there is no difference in transmission mode between the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) and the transmission mode recognition sensor (B56/1).
Function sequence for range display
The distance to empty is shown on the multifunction display (A1p13) in the instrument cluster (A1).
The information for distance to empty is derived from the values for the current driving style, the selected transmission mode and the charge level of the high-voltage battery. These values are made available to the electric drive control unit (N127) by the accelerator pedal sensor (B37), the electronic selector lever module control unit (N15/5) and the battery management system control unit (N82/2). The electric drive control unit (N127) forwards this information via the interior CAN (CAN B) to the instrument cluster (A1).
