Distance Warning Function Gateway, Component Description - GF30.30-P-3217KJ
MODEL 453.0/3/4
with CODE 252 (Distance warning function)
Shown on LHD vehicle
Location
The AWF Gateway is located for a left-hand drive vehicle under the instrument panel behind the footwell trim. For a RHD the AWF Gateway is located under the instrument panel behind the glove compartment. Task
The AWF Gateway has the following tasks:
- Gateway (interface CAN) AWF
- Reading in of signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Output of signals
Gateway (interface CAN) AWF
The AWF Gateway represents the central interface of the AWF system for AWF controller unit with radar sensor (A89) and is connected to the following CAN bus systems:
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
- Front end CAN (CAN G)
Reading in of signals
The input factors are read in via the following connections:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN
- Front end CAN
Direct line
The signals from the following assembly parts are read via direct lines:
- Distance warning function button
Interior CAN
The signals from various control units are read in from the AWF Gateway via the interior CAN and the AWF controller unit with radar sensor for further processing is made available. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see appropriate block diagram or function schematic). The AWF Gateway reads in signals from the following control units:
- ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (except model 453.091/391/491)
- EDCU (N127) (only model 453.091/391/491)
- Center SAM control unit (N10/10)
- DKG control unit (N15/13) (for code 429 (twinamic))
- Electronic Stability Program control unit (N30/4)
The AWF Gateway receives input factors including:
- Engine speed (except model 453.091/391/491)
- Rpm of electric motor (only model 453.091/391/491)
- Wheel speeds
- Gear range (for code 429 (twinamic) and for model 453.091/391/491)
- Status of the reverse gear (for code 410 (5-speed manual transmission))
- Vehicle speed
- Acceleration/yaw rate
- Lateral acceleration
- Steering wheel angle and steering angle rate of change
- Accelerator pedal position and engine torque
- Brake pedal position
- Brakes status and status of Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) (brake pressure and ESP® already or switched off due to a fault)
- Status of the turn signal
Front end CAN
The following signals of the AWF controller unit with radar sensor are read in by AWF Gateway via front end CAN and made available to the IC (A1) via interior CAN for further processing:
- AWF system status
- Request for a static or collision-critical warning to output to the IC
For model 453.091/391/491 the following additional information is read in by the front end CAN and sent via the interior CAN to the EDCU:
- Status of object moving immediately ahead or a stationary object to the EDCU (only model 453.091/391/491)
The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the relevant assembly parts are then actuated.
Output of signals
The signals are issued over the following connections:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN
- Front end CAN
Direct line
The following assembly parts are actuated via direct lines:
- Status LED in the AWF button
Interior CAN
The signal of the AWF controller unit with radar sensor read in at the front end CAN are passed on by the AWF Gateway via the interior CAN to the IC for emission of a respective warning or message. For model 453.091/391/491 additional information is sent to the EDCU. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
Front end CAN
The signals of various control units read in via the interior CAN are made available by the AWF Gateway, the AWF controller unit with radar sensor via the front end CAN for further processing. The functions that use these signals are described in the individual function descriptions (see appropriate block diagram or function schematic).
