Component Description For Electronic Stability Program Control Unit - GF42.45-P-5119KJ
MODEL 453
Location
The Electronic Stability Program control unit is installed in the traction system hydraulic unit below the brake fluid reservoir in the front section area.
Task
The Electronic Stability Program control unit contains the control for the following systems:
- Electronic Stability Program (ESP®)
- Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
- Acceleration skid control (ASR), electronic traction system (ETS)
- Brake Assist System (BAS)
- Control of brake force boosting or autonomous brake application of Active Brake Assist (ABA) (with code 258 (Active Brake Assist))
- Hill Start Assist
- Electronic brake force distribution (EBD)
- Precharging of brake cylinders to match accelerator pedal actuation
- Steer Assist partial function
- Crosswind Assist
The Electronic Stability Program control unit has the following tasks:
- Reading in of sensors and signals
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of components (actuators)
Reading in of sensors and signals
The input factors are read in over the following connections:
- Direct line
- Interior CAN (CAN B)
- Chassis CAN (CAN E)
Direct line
The following signals are read in via direct lines:
- Circuit 30
- Circuit 31
- Left front axle rpm sensor (L6/1)
- Right front axle rpm sensor (L6/2)
- Left rear axle rpm sensor (L6/3)
- Right rear axle rpm sensor (L6/4)
- Brake vacuum sensor (B64/1)
- Traction system hydraulic unit
Interior CAN
The Electronic Stability Program control unit uses the interior CAN (CAN B). It communicates with the following control units:
- Instrument cluster (A1)
- ME-SFI [ME] control unit (N3/10) (except model 453.091/391/491)
- Electric drive control unit (N127) (model 453.091/391/491)
- Center SAM control unit (N10/10)
- DKG control unit (N15/13) (for code 429 (twinamic))
- Distance warning function controller unit with active brake application (A90) routed through center SAM control unit from front-end CAN (CAN G) with code 258 (Active Brake Assist)
Chassis CAN
The Electronic Stability Program control unit is a subscriber to the chassis CAN. It communicates with the following control unit:
- Steering wheel angle sensor (N49)
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the affected components (actuators) are then actuated.
Actuation of components
Components are actuated with the following line:
- Direct line
Direct line
The following components are actuated via direct lines:
- Traction system hydraulic unit
