Remove/Install Windshield - AR67.10-P-1700SR

12.09.2018 Operation step 28, adapted If new windshield (1) was installed, a new housing of the rain and light sensor must be installed.

WARNING Injury hazard from pinching and crushing, in extreme cases extremities can even be cut off when caught in windshield wiper mechanism. When working on the windshield wiper mechanism, always switch off the ignition and store transmitter key outside of transmission range (at least 2 m). AS82.30-Z-0001-01A
  Notes on removal/installation of windshield   AH67.10-P-1000-01P 
REMOVING Remove     
1 Open side window in driver door NOTES The side window should remain open during the curing time.
Otherwise the windshield (1) can be pressed toward outside by the air when a door is closed.
 
2 Prepare adhesive kit according to instructions of adhesive material manufacturer IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Electric cartridge gun
Glazing set

3 Remove air-water duct   AR83.25-P-1410SR
4 Insert support (2) in bore (arrow A) and attach on frame of windshield (1) with zero clearance SPECIAL TOOL Support brace Fig 2
5 Remove transmitter key    
6 Remove trim from left and right A-pillar   AR68.30-P-4050SR
7 Protect instrument against damage with suitable cover    
8 Remove rain/light sensor Model 453
with code V54 (Rain/light sensor)

9 Remove multifunction camera Model 453
with code 238 (Active lane keeping Assist)
AR54.21-P-3000SR
10 Remove inside rearview mirror   AR68.40-P-0001SR
WARNING Risk of injury  from cutting wire tearing or becoming hot and from splinters of glass when cutting out bonded windows Wear protective gloves and safety glasses. AR67.10-P-1000-11SR 
11 Cut out windshield (1) with window removal tool IMPORTANT A helper is required for removal of windshield (1) from body flange. AS67.00-Z-0004-01A 
INSPECT Check     
12 Check bonding area on body flange for paint chipping
Notes on repair paintwork in bonding area of windows and components
In the event of complaints

Repair damage with approved materials.

INSTALLING Install     
13 Level residual adhesive material on body flange using a suitable scraper to a height of approx. 2 mm and remove loose residual adhesive material    
14 Prepare body flange for windshield installation according to instructions of adhesive material manufacturer

15.1 Level residual adhesive material on windshield (1) using a suitable scraper to a height of approx. 2 mm and remove loose residual adhesive material If windshield (1) is reinstalled.  
15.2 Transfer detachable parts on windshield (1) When replacing windshield (1).  
16 Prepare windshield (1) for installation according to instructions of adhesive material manufacturer Glazing set *BR00.45-Z-1168-02A 
17 Replace rubber spacer disks on windshield IMPORTANT Do not yet remove upper protective foil. AR67.10-P-1700-06SR 
18 Align windshield (1) in body opening IMPORTANT Model 453.3/4
Windshield (1) must be centered in body opening.
IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.

19 Remove protective foil from rubber spacers    
20 Apply glue to body flange NOTES
Windshield (1) must be mounted on body flange within time specified by adhesive material manufacturer.
Otherwise the adhesive force of the adhesive material starts to decrease.

21 Install windshield (1) IMPORTANT Aid of helper required. AR67.10-P-1700-05SR 
22 Fix windshield (1) in place with suitable adhesive tape    
23 Release and remove support (2) NOTES Only initially remove support (2) once adhesive material has achieved endurance strength.
Otherwise distortions or noise can arise when driving and a secure bonding is no longer ensured.
 
24 Remove cover from dashboard    
25 Install paneling on left and right A-pillar   AR68.30-P-4050SR
26 Install air/water duct   AR83.25-P-1410SR
27 Install multifunction camera Model 453
with code 238 (Active lane keeping Assist)
AR54.21-P-3000SR
28 Install rain/light sensor Model 453 with code V54 (Rain/light sensor)
IMPORTANT If new windshield (1) was installed, a new housing of the rain and light sensor must be installed.

29 Install inside rearview mirror   AR68.40-P-0001SR
30 Close side window on driver door    
INSPECT Check     
31 REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS Read out and erase fault memory using the diagnostic system   AD00.00-P-2000-06SR
CLEANING Clean     
32 Remove all attached adhesive tapes    
33 Clean area to be repaired
