Location
The DC/DC converter control unit (N83/1) is integrated in the engine compartment in the high-voltage control unit box (N83).
Task
The DC/DC converter control unit enables energy to be exchanged between the high voltage on-board electrical system and the 14 V onboard electrical system, by transforming the high voltage direct voltage (primary voltage) into 14 V direct voltage (secondary voltage).
If the on-board electrical system battery (G1) and the high-voltage battery (G5) have discharged too far, then before charging the high-voltage battery, an external 14 V charger has to be used to charge the on-board electrical system battery.

Input factors are read in by means of the following connections:
- Direct line
- Electric drive LIN (LIN EL)
Evaluation of input factors
The input factors that have been read in are evaluated by the integrated microprocessor and the affected components are then actuated.

Initial parameter are output over the following connections:
- Direct line
- Electric drive system CAN

Structure
DC/DC converter control unit consists of a plastic housing with one plug connection and an internal control unit.
Voltage supply
The DC/DC converter control unit is supplied with voltage from "circuit 30" and additionally, with ignition ON, from "circuit 15".
